“So Pierce, tell me. Did it make you feel good when you put down Margret like that? When you demolished her very being? Well?”
“Charles, shut up before I shut you up,” BJ replied, sitting down beside his friend who was slowly swirling his martini, the same martini he had been holding onto since they left the OR. “Hawk, what happened?”
“Same thing that always happens, the damn war makes me angry. And because of Private Smith...I suppose I just lost it a little more.”
“Yeah, well, you know how fragile Margret is.”
“I know alright, I screwed up. I know that. I just want it to be over.”
“Well,” BJ replied, stroking his moustache and smiling, “she’ll be in her tent. Alone.”
“BJ-”
“Just go.” Hawkeye smiled at his friend, glad that he at least was still there for him even after he acted like a complete jerk.
“Thanks Beej,” Hawkeye replied, before drinking the whole glass of his martini, placing the glass down and walking out of The Swamp. Charles starred at BJ.
“Marvellous, simply marvellous,” he stated, as BJ lay back in his bunk, pulling his hat over his eyes.
“What Charles?”
“One minute, he’s a complete ape...the next, he’s human. Surprising. I might have to research this and add it to my collection, “Korea: Home of the Loons.” Klingers essay is already enjoyable reading back home. Father absolutely laughed.”
BJ just smiled.
